Media Training

All our media training courses put emphasis on practical experience. We teach all delegates how to approach all their potential media intereviews from a journalistic point of view and aim to give delegates an opportunity to learn and practice new skills in a realistic media environment.

TNR develops bespoke media training courses for every client, taking into account their specific media requirements and experience. The course structure ensures the delegates leave us prepared to work with all three media – press, radio and TV.

Before any media training course, TNR will ensure that our trainers are at least as well briefed as any informed journalist would be ahead of a media interview. We do this by taking a thorough briefing from the client (or their PR Consultancy) and by doing our own detailed desk research. From that, beposke course exercises are developed to be used on the day's training.

A typical course of media training might include:

  • A thorough briefing with a dedicated Course Director.
  • Bespoke course materials developed in line with your brief.
  • A press interview conducted over the phone (prepared as an article).
  • Practical TV and radio interviews (usually two of each).
  • Individual feedback on all exercises.
  • Teaching of interview techniques such as Bridging, P-E-P and C-A-P.
  • Key messages development and rehearsal.
  • Feedback on delegate performances if required.
  • Copies of all training materials for your records.

Our media training  courses utilise our fully equipped broadcast studios at the Press Association, giving delegates a chance to experience interviews for real. We also provide 'on location' training if required by your organisation.

All TNR trainers are journalists are currently active in the media and all operate under NDA so you can have the confidence to practice dealing with sensitive subjects while you're with us.
