Bridging the gap between PR and Media

Radio Interview Training

Radio media training can be organised as part of a broader media training schedule or as a stand-alone course.

UK radio is a well-loved medium and one of the most effective ways to reach large, loyal audiences. TNR’s radio interview training helps spokespeople make the most of their time ‘on air’ with practical, bespoke media training exercises that take place in the Press Association’s fully equipped ISDN broadcast training studio.

Without the use of pictures, graphics or other visual aids, spokespeople will learn radio interview skills from experienced broadcast journalists which allow them to communicate their key messages with colour, interest and enthusiasm over the air waves.

Media Training at the Press Association

Radio media training exercises are bespoke and created in line with a brief, taking into account an individual spokesperson’s previous media interview experience; ability; and the type of radio interviews they are likely to do in the future. Where possible, media training scenarios are based (confidentially) on real life examples of the organisation’s previous and upcoming media activity.

Radio interview-types covered by our practical radio media training include; live vs pre-recorded; in-studio and down-the-line; national vs regional: talk-show; phone-in; BBC vs commercial.

In a typical course of media training, each spokesperson will undertake a minimum of two practical radio interviews with personal feedback from an experienced journalist. Stand-alone radio training can include more practical exercises or can prepare spokespeople for undertaking longer-format interviews on, for example, panel or discussion programmes.
